Technology

From the Learning 2.0 blog - #7:Blog about technology, I followed the link to SitePal. Can see that this technology would be quite handy to enhance web sites. I like how users can customise their SitePal character. However, I don't have a website so this technology is of no use to me.

I never thought I would ever have a Blog on the Internet either so who knows maybe my own website might be on the cards on day.

To me, technology is anything that makes (or is supposed to) life easier for the users.

7&1/2 habits for effective lifelong learning and goals

Just realised that I hadn't posted a comment on my best and worst habits.

My best would have to be that I am able to accept responsibility for my own learning. Having left school quite a number of years ago, I decided to return to study to get a job that I considered to be worthwhile. This has led me on a roller coaster journey over the years but by making that decision I have had so many positives in my life that I would not have achieved without taking responsibility for my life and what I learnt. I also learn new things every day through my job. I love learning.

My worst - viewing problems as challenges. When I come up against a problem I do become very frustrated. I will persevere however. I have to learn though not to see things as problems but as challenges. I will work on it.

As for my goals - I really want to finish the Learning 2.0 program sometime in June. I want to finish Cert. IV in Library & Information Studies this year and also Cert. III in Disabilty Work. So those are my goals for this year.

Had a look at some of the mashups that flickr has and must say that they look like they would be fun to play around with. Could be quite useful to use with special education students at school and to use in some library programs.
Decided to make a postcard with Trading Card Maker and had a bit of fun doing so.

Discovering flickr

Have looked at quite a few photos on flickr and can see that it is a very useful tool for anyone wanting to share their photos.

This photo was taken at the Waikerie riverfront of the ferry that operates there. I thought it was a good photo to post as who knows how long this ferry will be able to operate because of the drought.

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

23 things

This is my first post for the Learning 2.0 journey that I am about to undertake. I am excited about learning all about the new web applications that are available nowadays. Some of it I was not even aware of before so this will certainly be a steep learning curve for me.

I am a library studies student so will need to discover the applications and their uses so I am able to use them in the future (or now, as I think some of it will be useful in my studies).

Will just be a matter of finding the time to do the exercises and post to this blog.

Wish me luck everyone.
